MOZART & MAHLER

David Lockington, conductor
Janice Chandler Eteme, soprano

Bring your valentine to the Modesto Symphony Orchestra for an enchanting evening of Mozart and Mahler.  Let the Modesto Symphony serenade you with one of the greatest hits of classical music, Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik or “A Little Night Music.”

Discover the mysteries of Mahler! A complex individual, Gustav Mahler tried to explain the meaning of life through his music. Mahler’s Fourth Symphony is one of his most irresistible works. Completed in 1901, it beautifully intertwines folk tunes, klezmer music, waltzes, marches and children’s songs in a passionate, dreamlike composition.  Music Director David Lockington will explore the man and his music for a deeper understanding of Mahler’s Fourth Symphony through multi-media and live orchestral passages before playing Mahler’s 4th symphony in its entirety.

Special Event

Join us before the concert in the lobby for a special photo exhibition from The Photograpghers Gallery entitled "The Meaning of Life". This is the second year the Modesto Symphony has collaborated with curator, David Schroeder.
