Hal Holbrook in "Mark Twain Tonight!"

Hal Holbrook has toured Mark Twain Tonight! in some part of every year since 1954 and gave his 2,200th performance in March 2010, making 2012 the 58th consecutive year for this remarkable one-man show — perhaps the longest-running in theater history. Holbrook has no set program ; he adds to his Twain material every year, editing and changing it to fit the times. Mr. Holbrook brought Mark Twain Tonight! to the Gallo Center in its inaugural season, and we are honored to have him return.

In a special talk preceding Hal Holbrook’s performance, Gregg Camfield, Vincent Hillyer Professor of Literature at UC Merced and author of Oxford Companion to Mark Twain, will delve into the reasons why Twain's humor endures.
