Lightwire Theater AND Corbian Visual Arts & Dancebrought their amazing production of The Ugly Duckling to the Gallo Center last season. Now they are returning with A Very Electric Christmas, a captivating and magical tale of adventure, friendship and love centered on a young bird named Max going home for the holidays. Performed in complete darkness with dazzling, cutting-edge 'lightwire' technology, moving sculpture and dance, the show features Nutcracker soldiers with candy-canes, naughty rats, an electric Christmas tree surrounded by presents, glow worms, dancing flowers and other creatures that light up the stage—all set to timeless holiday music by Mariah Carey, Nat King Cole, Tchaikovsky, and more. This is a show your family will talk about for years to come.

Only one show has played every year at the Gallo Center since it opened in 2007, and this is it. Holiday season after holiday season, children have laughed when two merry elves arrive at a small village in the Black Forest to discover a poor, kindly shoemaker and his wife who clearly need assistance. Their generosity and cleverness save the shoemaker from a bleak and unhappy holiday!

Warm up to the holidays as Opus Handbell returns to the Gallo Center with their exquisitely beautiful music to celebrate the season. The Modesto area has been fortunate to have this advanced, 15-member handbell choir to call its own for many years. While they often play at the Modesto Symphony Orchestra's pops and candlelight concerts, an entire program of their own holiday music is a new tradition at the Center!

Special guests include dancer Kevin Horton of "Riverdance" fame, members of the Kerry Dance Troupe, sensational Irish musicians from the Kerry Traditional Orchestra, along with a host of actors and singers in a sparkling Irish night. Based on the classic short story by Truman Capote, A Christmas Memory is a tale for the ages—a joyous, emotional holiday musical that reminds us what Christmas, family, and friendship are all about. The story is set in a small Southern town in the 1930's, and follows the comic adventures of two misfit cousins. A Christmas Memory celebrates the simple pleasures of life and the joy of giving. This evocative, festive musical is produced by the Gallo Center for the Arts and directed by the Center’s arts education coordinator, Jim Johnson.

The first ever Peanuts animated television special took place in 1965. A Charlie Brown Christmas has been enjoyed by fans of all ages around the world ever since. Now, 50 years later, smooth jazz piano legend David Benoit pays tribute to this incredible piece of entertainment history with an inspirational tribute concert featuring the classic music of Vince Guaraldi along with A Charlie Brown Christmas originals from Benoit himself, who took over the helm as music composer for the new Charlie Brown Christmas TV specials more than a decade ago. The show also will feature the young voices of Expressions Chorale in Modesto, under the direction of Candace Chamberlain.
