Early solo hits like “Can I Get a Witness” and “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” are accompanied by “You’re All I Need to Get By” and other classics. MIGUEL BOSE
GCA FY17
MIGUEL BOSE
Miguel Bosé has been a force in Latin music in a career that has spanned dozens of albums and film roles, his own television show, and work as a theater director. The son of an actress (Lucia Bosè) and a bullfighter (Luis Miguel Dominguín), Bosé grew up in the arts, with Pablo Picasso and Ernest Hemingway among his family friends. Defying the contemporary formula for pop success, this Latin Grammy Award winner’s music has been described as a global fusion of many musical influences. At the center of this is all the passion and expression of a Latin artist, and Miguel Bosé has constantly incorporated more diverse musical elements than many of the genre's crossover pop stars—while performing across the Americas and in Europe. Among his many, many hits, “Amante Bandido,” released in 1984, still receives radio airplay today!

OF MICE AND MEN
TOP FY17
OF MICE AND MEN
Based on the novel by Pulitzer and Nobel-Prize-winning author John Steinbeck, the opera tells the story of two migrant farm laborers moving from place to place in California’s Central Valley looking for work during the Great Depression. Written in 1969 by renowned American composer Carlisle Floyd, the opera features folk song references, open harmonies and poignant melodies. Written at a time when most composers were deeply entrenched in the experimentalism of the avant garde, Floyd’s music bucks the trend and provides the listener with such tonal and lyric music that the piece has been referred to as one of the first American verismo operas in the repertoire. The performance of this opera will accompany an exhibit exploring the history of migrant workers and the growth of agriculture in the Central Valley during the Great Depression of the 1930s.

Backed by the tight Rave On Band, McGuigan dives head first into "Peggy Sue," "Raining in My Heart," "It's So Easy," "That'll Be the Day," "True Love Ways" and of course, "Rave On."
