He returns! A Gallo Center favorite for several years now, Ramón Ayala y Sus Bravos del Norte always sell out. A superstar on both sides of the Rio Grande, the “King of the Accordion” is a master musician, vocalist, and songwriter. He has had an illustrious career spanning 50 years, defining norteño music with signature songs and definitive instrumental styling. Along the way Ayala also virtually invented modern conjunto music. He has recorded more than 100 albums for which he has received four Grammy Awards. His many, many hits include “Un Rinconcito En El Cielo” and “Chaparra de Mi Amor.”

DAVE BENNETT'S TRIBUTE TO BENNY GOODMAN. Dave Bennett is a blazing clarinet sensation playing the “swing style” of Benny Goodman. He previously appeared at the Center performing in the Modesto Symphony’s “Clarinet Swing Kings” concert in 2014. We delighted to bring Dave back with his quartet for an all-Goodman program to include classics such as “Moonglow,” “I've Got Rhythm,” “Sing Sing Sing,” “Let's Dance,” “Don't Be That Way,” “Stompin’ at the Savoy” and more! Dave is an authentic musical prodigy (totally self-taught) who brings Goodman's music to life with incredible technique, style, beauty of tone and naturalness. His stage presence, knowledge of Goodman, and his penchant for wire-rim glasses, spats and double-breasted suits, transports listeners back in time!

The Modesto Symphony will present a symphonic tribute to Modesto’s rich sports history June 2 and June 3 at the Gallo Center. Working in conjunction with local historian and author, Ken White, MSO has compiled unique photos and information about the important role athletics have played in our community’s history, which will be displayed as the orchestra performs live on stage. Listen to timeless sports-related orchestral music, such as selections from “The Natural,” “Rocky” and The Olympics, while learning more about Modesto’s ties to the New York Yankees, Cassius Clay, Mark Spitz, Jack Dempsey and many, many more. This show traces Doo Wop from five guys singing tight harmonies on a street corner to the biggest hits on the radio today. Throughout the show, you take a journey from foundational tunes of groups like the Crests, Belmonts and Flamingos through their influences on the sounds of Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, and The Four Seasons…all the way to Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz and Amy Winehouse. Along with The O'Jays, The Spinners and The Delfonics, the Stylistics are one of the groups that helped define the music coming out of the City of Philadelphia beginning in the 1970s.  The quartet recorded a remarkable 12-straight Top Ten hits from 1971 to 1974, all of them infused with the charisma, style and harmony that would make The Stylistics one of the most popular and accomplished soul groups ever.  Among the indelible and romantic hits are “You’re a Big Girl Now,” “You Are Everything,” "Betcha by Golly, Wow" and the unforgettable “You Make Me Feel Brand New.”

Co-presented with the Modesto Bee, it’s the 8th annual edition of the talent show that dazzles the community each year while supporting the non-profit Gallo Center! Experience thrilling artists—singers, dancers, musicians, bands and more—from around the San Joaquin Valley as they put it all on the line after months of auditions and rehearsals. Cash prizes will be awarded to the grand prize winner, as well to competitors in male and female vocals, dance singles/duets, dance ensembles, instrumental, band, original musical composition, specialty and audience favorite categories. Friday evening's performance is the audience voting show. Prize winners are announced after the Saturday finals performance.
