RAGTIME, SCHOOL EDITION
Three distinct stories intertwine to poignantly illustrate history’s contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair, and love and hate. It was a tumultuous time when immigrants were looking to find hope in America, when former slaves and their children, now freed, were trying to establish their hold on the American dream, and the white upper-middle-class society struggled to maintain their lifestyle and expectations. The music is as diverse melting pot.

CHRIS ISAAK
Born in Stockton, and a graduate of the University of the Pacific, singer, songwriter, musician and occasional actor Chris Isaak listened to records by Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison growing up. Other inspirations included rockabilly and country singers, including Hank Williams. He got his big break when director David Lynch used Isaak’s song “Wicked Game” in the soundtrack for the movie Wild at Heart. The song became a Top 10 hit, and the subsequent video for the song helped make him a major star. Another hit for Isaak was "Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing.” He was chosen by People magazine as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the world in 1990.
