As part of its 30th anniversary celebration, Complexions Contemporary Ballet is appearing at the Gallo Center for a second consecutive season—and introducing a new work, For Crying Out Loud, featuring the music of U2!
Using the raw and unfiltered music of “Songs of Surrender," U2's latest release, choreographer and Complexions co-founder Dwight Rhoden brings the vibrancy of the stories told by the music and lyrics into a landscape of expression - drawing on the grit and honesty of these iconic songs stripped down to their acoustic best. The performance is both moving and uplifting, leaving the audience with a sense of hope for what's to come.
Rhoden and the legendary Desmond Richardson, both former dancers with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, founded the company in 1994. They brought a singular and somewhat shocking approach to reinventing dance through a groundbreaking mix of methods, styles and cultures.
Today, Complexions represents one of the most recognized, diverse, inclusive and respected performing arts brands. Having presented an entirely new and exciting vision of human movement on five continents, to more than 20 million television viewers and to well over 300,000 people in live audiences, Complexions is poised to continue its mission to bring unity to the world one dance at a time.
FREE BALCONY TALK!
This performance features a pre-show Balcony Talk that is free to ticket holders. Central West Ballet artistic director René Daveluy and a member of Complexions Contemporary Ballet will discuss the company and its history, mission and repertory. The talk begins one hour prior to show time. Simply present your show tickets to be admitted.
