Beginning December 30, the Gallo Center is partnering with the Broadway Dreams Foundation in a weeklong ‘performance training intensive’ that connects respected entertainment industry professionals with aspiring young artists for a series of sessions that focus on the acting, voice, and dance disciplines. The program culminates with this showcase finale—The Hits Reimagined-- in which an estimated 40 to 50 local and regional students will sing, dance and act alongside the distinguished professionals who comprise the program’s teaching artists.

The teaching artists include Morgan James, a graduate of Johansen High School in Modesto who has gone on to Broadway and recording stardom (Motown: The Musical, The Addams Family, Postmodern Jukebox); Broadway performer Tyler Harris (On the Town, Hairspray, A Chorus Line); Emmy-nominated television actor Van Hansis (Eastsiders, Occupant, Devil May Call); TV and Broadway performer Aaron Simon Gross (13, The Good Wife, Made in Jersey); and Annette Tanner, founder and president of Broadway Dreams and renowned casting director (Mary Poppins, Annie, The Preacher’s Wife).

Modesto is one of nine North American cities that will host Broadway Dreams in 2018. The others are Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, Aspen, Calgary, Charlotte, Toronto and Philadelphia. Since Broadway Dreams was founded, more than 100 of its students have booked stage and screen roles in such productions as Hamilton, Disney’s Frozen, Netflix’s On My Block, and many other productions.
