Description
This show is presented by an independent producer and is not eligible for a ticket exchange to performances offered by the Gallo Center for the Arts and its resident companies (Central West Ballet, Modesto Performing Arts, Modesto Symphony Orchestra and Opera Modesto).
What happens when "Dancing with the Stars" meets "RuPaul?" The best night ever! Community leaders (who have never done drag) partner with local drag experts to learn the art of Drag performance. They will give you a night of PG-13 entertainment that you will never forget, all while raising money for four local nonprofit organizations. You do not want to miss it!
We have paired community leaders (who have never done drag) with seasoned local drag performers. With the additional help of a choreographer and a director, we put the community leaders through the ringer of learning two numbers (which include choreography and lip synching) and creating a drag persona (which features fabulous costumes, creative makeup, and a fun drag name). The accumulation of hours of rehearsal ends with a star studded, fun, entertaining PG-13 performance.
This event raises money for local nonprofits, all while showing people that drag is multifaceted, drag is art, drag is performance and most importantly drag is not a crime. The intent of the evening is always to educate, entertain, and celebrate the richness that we have in our community.
